Floating Tree is a nonprofit organization that specializes in food security, education, and outreach. Our mission is to empower people facing food insecurity to grow, harvest, and prepare their own food, and to educate the community on ways to reduce food insecurity and live more sustainable, nourishing lives.

Our Goals
A sustainable, wholistic approach

To provide educational resources to school aged children to improve population level understanding and interest in household food growth and security.

To provide hands-on educational workshops centered around food accessibility and food growth to 100 students ages 6 through 16 through Chattanooga schools and North Georgia schools by June 2025.

To provide service opportunities at Floating Tree Gardens to Chattanooga high school students in need of service hours for a total of 100 service hours by June 2025.

To empower households facing food insecurity to cultivate nutritious, fulfilling windowsill and back yard gardens and incorporate harvest into routine cooking.

To provide 50 windowsill garden and 50 backyard garden starter kits complete with recipe guides and training to 100 Chattanooga families who have been identified as food insecure by June 2025.

To offer two cooking workshops to recipients of Floating Tree and Chattanooga Area Food Bank beneficiaries with local chefs by March 2025.

To work with, serve, and provide entrepreneurial opportunities to marginalized communities with the dignity and respect of which all people deserve.

To identify five Floating Tree beneficiaries that produce a food or cooking related product and assist with selling their products over three six-month apprenticeships by September 2025.

To participate in one international food security mission impacting an underserved or marginalized community by December 2025.
